Switzerland was the first European country in which McDonalds attempted to diversify its commercial activities by operating hotels and, although ownership of the "Golden Arch" (as it was known when first opened) has since been transferred to the Park Inn chain, the property remains an excellent choice for business travellers and families alike.

Although to some, the golden arch symbol is perhaps a little too pervasive, the hotel certainly provides fantastic value for money, despite being some 12km from the city centre (and 5km from Unique Airport). Fortunately though, a complimentary shuttle-bus runs to/from the airport, making it ideal for a stopover stay (guests can also pick up SBB local rail connections to the city centre from Zurich-Airport).

Not only do guest rooms feature Sit 'n' Sleep beds from Bico (widely acknowledged as being among the most comfortable on the market), but also come equipped with a large shower and separate toilet, colour TV with cable channels and Web TV connection/keyboard, pay-TV and radio, direct dial telephone, modem jack (analogue/ISDN), safe deposit box, hair dryer, air-conditioning, mobile phone reception (throughout the building) and public wireless-LAN.

In addition, the functional Feng Shui style building offers easy self check-in/-out, conference rooms, a McDonald's restaurant (along with a separate dining room for international and local à la carte dishes), lounge area, AROMA coffee-corner and fitness room.

And, with room rates being extremely reasonable, the Park Inn Zurich Airport is worthy of serious consideration.
