"Renowned for its friendly atmosphere, the Altstadt Vienna is small, family run hotel situated near to the city's Museumsquartier (in the friendly neighbourhood of Spittelberg).

Established by Otto Wiesenthal in the mid-1990s, he set about converting part of this century-old private home into a stylish hotel. And what a successful project it's been. Combining traditional charm with contemporary chic, each of the hotel's 25 guest rooms are individually designed, blending Italian soft fabrics with antique furniture and modern art. The overall effect is definitely one of staying in a classy home rather than a hotel, while service here is friendly, efficient and helpful.

What's more, the beautifully appointed rooms are made all the more special by good use of natural light, high ceilings, parquet flooring and comfortable beds (note: about half of the rooms contain a shower instead of a bath).
