Although many people are familiar with the world famous Bata brand, few realise that the
company's founder, Tomáš Bata, was Czech. During the Communist era, the Bata factory in
the Czech Republic was nationalised, but the brand, already well-established abroad still
thrived. Nowadays, Bata stores have returned to the Czech Republic and their flagship
store (on Wenceslas Square) is well-worth a visit if you're after fashionable,
high-quality footwear.
