Prague (and Czech) Coach Travel |
||||||||
UK TravellersTaking roughly one hour longer than a train journey to Prague (23 hours), coach travel offers the advantage of flexible ticketing and cheap fares. 30 day advance fare return tickets with Eurolines, Tel: 01582 400694 can have travel times/dates amended up to 7 days prior to the outward departure date (subject to a small amendment fee) with an adult single ticket to Prague (with 1 change in Brussels) currently costing £108 (in high season). Other fares include: adult return £95; child return £69; senior return £89. The Eurolines website also features a range of promotional fares that offer significant reductions over their standard prices - via an online booking facility - including a 15 day advance return. Note: the above prices are for direct services with Eurolines. Some routes, which include a change in Brussels, may add to the overall price of a single/return ticket. Services to Prague run from London Victoria and arrive at Florenc bus station, which is adjacent to the metro station of the same name. Check-in is one hour before departure and baggage is limited to one suitcase plus hand luggage. If you're planning to begin your Prague journey in mainland Europe, then Busabout (see also below) offers a flexible and cost-effective alternative to Eurolines. For fully-escorted tours to Prague, the highly respected UK holiday company Wallace Arnold is hard to beat, while other specialist firms include Titan Travel, Čedok and Trafalgar Tours. In addition, for one-day coach tours around Prague, check out our range of sightseeing packages! European TravellersBoth Eurolines and Busabout operate an extensive network of European coach routes which allow you to travel to the Czech Republic and Prague. Eurolines offer their own dedicated pass, valid for 15, 30 or 60 days, while other ticket options include adult, youth, senior citizen and child singles/returns as well as open draw (flexible) tickets. On longer routes (such as to Prague), the company employs two alternating drivers, thus allowing for an almost uninterrupted journey, save for an occasional meal break. The company's website at www.eurolines.com also features a range of promotional fares offering significant reductions over their standard prices (via an online booking facility). Busabout's approach is slightly different, as their network allows travel across the continent by buying a certain number of 'Flexistops' for each leg of your journey (either from a Busabout guide, or via the company's own website). Basically, each overnight stop equates to one Flexistop. In addition, your guide can phone ahead on a specific part of the journey to help organise accommodation (you can also book further in advance if required). What's more, the service is flexible enough to not only permit night stops, but day stops too (meaning you can hop off a bus and re-join the network at a later date). Alternatively, if you plan to visit certain areas of Europe, then their 'Loop' system might be of interest. Busabout's network is divided into 3 easy-to-follow areas, namely the Northern Loop (which includes Paris, Prague, Vienna, Munich, Amsterdam, Bruges and Berlin), a Southern Loop of Italian, French and Swiss cities, plus the Western Loop of France and Spain. By combining any 2 or 3 loops it's possible to cover vast swathes of Europe, with stops being permitted at each destination once (linking cities more often - if you buy 2 or 3 loops). What's more, if you have a valid ISE card, ISIC card, Go25 card, Under
26 card, or recognised youth, student or teacher ID card then you'll receive a reduced rate
Busabout pass at 'Cardholder' prices. |
