Keeping room rates down by not including 'extras' such as a telephone, TV and mini bar - which can
be requested for an additional fee - the Hotel City offers clean, well-priced, singles, doubles,
triples and quads, along with an excellent location (being just a short hop away from Prague's

Located in Prague's most central district, the Jan Hus House pension offers spotlessly clean budget
accommodation, also being within easy walking distance of the city's major attractions. Every room
has a wash basin, with shared bathroom/shower facilities on each floor, while more expensive rooms
have their own shower and toilet. The owner Miloš (who runs the establishment with his wife
Jiřina) also happens to be an expert on all things Prague, operating walking/sightseeing tours
for guests, as well as excursions to UNESCO towns further afield. With 19 rooms and communal eating
areas, the Jan Hus is great for both budget conscious groups and families (in rooms 61, 62 and
63).

Included primarily for its excellent value apartments (4 people for 5000-6000 CZK per night),
the downtown King George's Pension also provides comfortable, classy one, two and three bed guest
accommodation, all with en-suite facilities. A buffet breakfast, which is taken in the bar/cellar
pub, is also included in the price, making the U krále Jiřího an appealing
choice.

Rated as a three-star establishment, the Tříska scores points for its friendly
service, clean (all-white) rooms and cheap rack rates. In fact, aside from the Pension's location
on a busy street, we find it difficult to fault the Tříska. And that's praise
indeed!

A decent restaurant, great beer and some of the best value accommodation in town makes the Pension
U Lilie a real find. Rooms are on the small side, but at 3,500 CZK per night (for two people)
that's our only gripe. Oh, and did we mention the location just a minute's walk away from Charles
Bridge? We have now!

Any Prague guide book worth its salt will mention Pension Unitas, a real cheap sleep option with
clean (basic) rooms, good facilities and a buffet breakfast to boot. For hostel prices (roughly EUR
35 per person), choose between singles, doubles, triples and, cheapest of all, quad bed rooms.
Interestingly enough, the Unitas previously served as a Czech secret police jail (the "cells" are a
popular option as former Czech premier Václav Havel was once held here). However, they do
let you out these days! And, although showers and toilets are shared, everything is
well-maintained, making the Unitas a bargain budget option.
