While there are antiques shops galore in London, each of the following locations houses reputable, well-established businesses, offering a wide-selection of quality goods, pleasant service and fine attention to detail.

London Antiques Markets and Arcades

Camden Passage

Upper Street, N1, Website: www.camdenpassageislington.co.uk, Tube: Angel, Show Map
Camden Passage just off Upper Street, Islington (not to be confused with the Camden Town markets) is a good place to head if you've a penchant for antiques. With a mix of stalls, shops and an enclosed mall, pitches are normally set up on Wednesdays and Saturdays, while the passage's permanent shops are open during the week. Of course, once you’ve finished browsing, take a break in one of the many trendy bars and restaurants that line Upper Street. Note: Unfortunately, as of 15/4/2008, the future of Camden Passage hangs in the balance. If you wish to support the traders in saving their building from redevelopment, then visit the website's campaign page.

Among those dealers with a web presence, Anthony Redmile carries decorative lighting, furniture, wall friezes, vases and architectural heads/busts, while Christopher Preston supplies internal/external brass furniture, knobs and handles. All very fashionable, very tasteful and very King's Road.

As home to over eighty antiques dealers, Gray's is arguably the finest market of its kind in London. Situated in the heart of the city's West End, the market's grand 19th-century premises provide an atmospheric setting in which to browse for a bargain. Although an undoubted mecca for fine jewellery, Gray's will not disappoint those after collectables, objet d'art, porcelain and silverware either. What's more, with an umbrella website that includes details on each dealer, its possible to work out which shops to visit before travelling. A real treat for antiques enthusiasts, a visit to Gray's should not be missed.
