Lost Property Offices in Vienna
In the event that valuables are lost (or stolen) during your stay in Vienna then immediately report the incident to the local police. Usually it helps (especially for lost passports/visas) to contact your embassy first, as they should be able to explain the documentation that’s needed to help you obtain an appropriate police certificate.
Municipal District Offices also serve as lost property offices. Therefore, if you have any questions regarding lost items, contact their hotline on: 4000 8091 (Mon, Wed, Fri 8am-3.30pm and Thu 8am-5.30pm). Addresses for each district office (there are 19 in all) can be found by visiting: www.wien.gv.at/mba/fundservice. The document also explains the procedure for handing in found items, together with information to help travellers with disabilities.
On buses or trams, call 7909 43500 (after waiting 72 hours). In the case of items left on trains contact: 58 00 32996 (Westbahnhof) or 58 00 35656 (Südbahnhof). Alternatively, you can visit the Central Lost and Found Office in person (open: Mon-Fri 8am-noon) at: Fundamt, Wasagasse 22, A-1090, Tel: 313 44 92111, Fax: 313 44 9217. Good luck!
