Internet Access in Vienna

Most large UK/US and European ISPs offer international access numbers to those wanting to use their laptops overseas. Of the major providers, the numbers given below can be used for Internet access while in Vienna:

AOL - Tel: 01 81407 and 071 8915052 (up to 33.6bps, with $3.95 per hour surcharge)

AT & T Business Internet Service - Tel: 01 21 706

CompuServe - Tel: 01 505 6178 (up to 57.6bps, with a $6 per hour surcharge for US customers, $8 per hour for Canadian clients)

For those with Wi-Fi capable machines, over 100 hotspots now exist in Vienna, with the vast majority operated (in public spaces at least) by Metronet (see www.wi-fihotspotlist.com for details). Moreover, if you’re after hotels equipped with WLAN Internet access, then visit our accommodation directory where information is provided for individual property listings.

Another good way of accessing the Internet during your stay is at a cyber café. Being a forward-thinking city, Vienna is pretty well wired up, with Broadband connections galore. So, if you need to read your e-mails or do a bit of surfing, check out the following Internet cafés:
