Widely regarded as being one of the nation’s best Anthropological museums, exhibits focus upon the 11,000 year old cultural heritage of the Southwest, with more general displays - that chart human origins from distant ancestors like "Lucy," Neanderthal and Homo habilis - standing alongside those relating to cultures around the world. Two additional galleries, which stage temporary exhibitions, include contemporary programs relating to the history and traditions of the Southwest.
