Bizarrely situated in one of the city’s giant flak towers (in all 6 were erected during World War II, though this is the only one to have been put to modern day use) the aquarium has five themed sections housing well over 2000 fish and reptiles. These are:-

Tropical seawater fish – displaying beautifully coloured fish, black finned sharks, sea turtles as well as coral and sea anemones;

Tropical freshwater fish – including fearsome piranha fish and other more sedate species;

Mediterranean fish – plenty of crustacea, starfish, eels and octopodes;

Reptiles & snakes – snakes, lizards and crocs;

Tropical House – birds, bats and monkeys in a recreation of a tropical landscape.
