The Museum of Criminology is housed in one of the oldest buildings in Leopoldstadt, the "Seifensiederhaus" (which translates as the "Soap Boilers House") and dates back to 1685. The exhibition, which opened in 1991, incorporates what was once the Imperial Viennese Police Museum and documents the history of the city’s police and justice system within 20 rooms of the house. As well as documents, weapons and uniforms, displays cover notorious criminal figures in Vienna’s history.
