Opened in 1978, the museum celebrates the life and achievements of prominent sculptor Gustinus Ambrosi. Born in Eisenstadt in 1893, Ambrosi became deaf from the age of seven. Despite such difficulties, he went on to become a prolific sculptor who also wrote poetry. The museum contains a selection of sculptures and busts (from an output of over 3000) covering his life up until 1975 - the year in which he tragically committed suicide.

My late mother, Marjorie Wintermute Schiffeler, was one of Ambrosi’s students before the War. I have a signed copy of his “Ambrosi-Festschrift” (Burgenland-Verlag) in which he wrote: “To My Dearest puplil Marjorie Schiffeler-Wintermuthe To remember the wonderful hours of her work in my studio. with Kindest regards Ambrosi sculptor of Vienne 25 July 1948.” Do you have a copy of his “Ambrosi-Festschrift” in your holdings?
I would be most interested to learn you have any reference at the Museum related to my late mother. Thank you.
