With a tradition dating back to 1847, the original konditorei was started by Anton Gerstner and his wife Barbara. Gerstner, having won much acclaim for the quality of his baked goods, was eventually awarded a prized Imperial warrant in 1873. With the present day pâtisserie maintaining the high standards he first established, it offers an exquisite range of delicious cakes, pastries and chocolates. Gerstner also serves as the supplier to prestigious customers like the Staatsoper & the Kunsthistoriches museum café (both of which are well-worth visiting).
