Vienna Bars & Pubs
With relaxed licensing laws and some extremely swanky, well-stocked establishments, Vienna’s bar scene has improved immeasurably in recent years. Those looking for a venue or two in which to spend a Friday/Saturday night not only have plenty of choice, but the promise of a rather fun time out! On the whole prices are reasonable, despite the temptation by some city-centre bars to charge ridiculous amounts for brandy, Scotch and other spirits (meaning that you might reach your credit card limit long before your alcohol threshold).
The so called "Bermuda Triangle" of bars and pubs in Vienna is the city’s most popular draw, and stretches between Schwedenplatz, the Hohermarkt and Morzinplatz. Here you’ll find the excellent First Floor bar, as well as other popular haunts such as Krah Krah and Roter Engel.
Elsewhere, long-established favourites such as Planter’s and the American Bar continue to cut a dash with well-heeled punters, while further afield, Jenseits and B72 offer an equally enjoyable (albeit different) drinking experience!
