"Opened in late 2006, the Novotel Budapest Danube is an extremely
well-equipped 4-star property located on the picturesque Buda side of the city.
In all honesty, however, we're disappointed that
Novotel has chosen such a out-of-place exterior design for this property. Indeed, one can
only guess at how the company received planning permission for such a cheerless and
ill-conceived façade (which, to us, is totally bereft of any architectural merit).
That aside, the interior of the property is
much more appealing. From the
inside looking out - and providing you have a panorama view room - there are few better
locations in the whole of the city for the first-time visitor. Views of Hungary's majestic
parliament building are breathtaking, while good transport links via the nearby Batthyány tér
metro station make it ideal for traversing the city.
Comprising of 175 rooms, including six suites and three rooms for
travellers with disabilities, each come equipped with air-conditioning, safe deposit box,
mini-bar, colour TV with pay-per-view channels, radio, direct dial telephone, Wi-Fi
Internet access, hair dryer and bath tub/WC.
An in-house bar and restaurant serve a wide-selection of drinks and
cocktails, along with light snacks and full lunch/dinner options drawn from a varied menu
of international dishes.
For business travellers, the Novotel boasts five meeting/conference
rooms, together with a full-range of business services including copying, printing and
translation.
To help you relax during your stay, the property offers a
well-equipped fitness centre, along with a large sauna, while other on-site services
include a tourist information desk, currency exchange and private outdoor parking.
In summary, if you do stay at the Novotel
Budapest Danube, you're almost assured of a comfortable and rewarding stay. It's a very nice
hotel. Just be
thankful, however, that you're not waking up to views of the Novotel from the other side of the
river..."
