All superior rooms and apartments are fitted with en-suite showers, along with a colour TV, mini bar and telephone, while dining options (which include diabetic and vegetarian options) comprise of the elegant Lord Nelson restaurant or more informal Francis Drake pub.

As dorm rooms are also available on-board, the Fortuna is likely to appeal to backpackers as well as budget travellers. Rooms, although clean and tidy are quite basic. However, the benefits (in our opinion) easily outweigh the negatives, making this an unusual but worthwhile option, particularly if you're able to secure a river view.
